Boston is the most expensive city to shop online, according to a Mashable ranking of the most popular locations for online shopping.
The list was compiled by data analysis firm Fluffdata, which analyzed more than 3.3 million transactions from nearly 30,000 U.S. retailers to come up with the ranking.
It was compiled using data from Amazon, Google Shopping, Overstock.com and Zappos.com.
The ranking was based on how often each item is sold online and how much money a retailer gets from each purchase.
Mashable’s ranking was calculated based on each individual site’s Alexa ranking, which measures the importance of the search results, as well as how much revenue a retailer makes from each transaction.

The top spot went to a Brooklyn shop called The Shoppe, which sells artisanal artisanal cheeses and artisanal sandwiches.
The shop’s website has been around for nearly 10 years.
The other two spots on the list were in Atlanta, where the Brooklyn Bistro and in Los Angeles, where one of the largest artisanal cheese shops in the world, The Green Mill, sells its wares by the pound.
