They can also be costly if you don’t have the time or patience to prepare them. It’s not always possible to pay the grocery store the price for just slicing and placing the fruit in a plastic bag with fruit dip. Let’s make this a better place.

Fruit gummies

These fruit snacks are basically a healthier version of Jello. We also recommend homemade gelatin. This can be made from chicken feet and bone broth, as well as other sources. You can also buy powdered gelatin from the store.

6 cups fruit juice

3 cups pureed fruits

1 1/2 cup gelatin powder

3/4 cup sugar, maple syrup or honey

In a saucepan, combine the juice of the fruit and the sweetener of your choice. Let the mixture simmer gently before adding the puree.

Use a whisk to slowly incorporate the powdered gelatin. It will become more difficult to work with if you don’t take your time and allow the ingredients to mix naturally.

Finally, divide the mixture into portions in a container that is non-stick or a large bowl. This will be just like with Jello. After the mixture has cooled, you can place it in the fridge until you see fruit gummies!

Snacks of healthy fruit

Fruit roll-ups and other traditional fruit snacks aren’t always as healthy or as cost-effective as we would like. They are loved by our children for their convenience and flavor. They are essentially a fruit leather made from a variety dehydrated and pureed fruits.

Fruit leather has a unique advantage: you don’t need to follow a particular recipe. You can use any fruit you like pears, oranges or strawberries. We recommend these ingredients.

10 cups of raw fruit

Optional: 1 1/4 cups sugar, honey, or maple syrup

1/3 cup lemon juice

This fruit leather recipe does not contain lemon juice for flavor. The citrus prevents the fruit from turning brown during drying, which takes place at low heat.

A fruit dryer makes this snack idea much more simple. Many recipes require parchment paper, and heat settings too low to work in most ovens. Instead of wasting electricity and creating mess, use specially designed fruit roll sheets.

How to make fruit leather using a fruit drying machine

Blend the fruit puree. We used 10 cups of fruit to make this batch. It will last us for a month. To sweeten and liquefy, blend the ingredients in a food processor.

Your fruit jerky dehydrator should be set at 135 degrees. Place the lemon-treated puree 1/4″ thick on your nonstick dehydrator trays. Dry until the sticky texture has subsided.

Sometimes fruit leather is misunderstood. It doesn’t need to be difficult to chew. The easiest way to keep the leather soft is to take it out of the dehydrator as soon you can remove it from its tray.

We recommend that you plan a storage solution. It won’t last more than a few days in the cupboard unless it is sealed in a vacuum-sealed box. It will last at most for a month in the fridge if it is sealed with ziplock bags.
